DAY 01

ARRIVAL / SIGIRIYA (Approximate travel time- 4 hours)

Welcome and assitance by Helanka Vacations representative, transfer to Sigiriya. Sigiriya holds remains of King Kasyapa’s palace, forever set atop the rock yet still showcasing their age-old beauty. Numerous eye-catching highlights persist in this fortress. Visit the Minneriya national park- afternoon safari. The Minneriya National Park’s faunal species include 24 species of mammals, 160 species of birds, 9 species of amphibians, 25 species of reptiles, 26 species of fish, and 75 species of butterflies. Yet, it is the largest known meeting place for Elephants, up to 300 Elephants are seen during the dry months of August and September searching for water and food in the 8,890-hectare national park. Overnight stay in Sigiriya.
DAY 02

SIGIRIYA / KANDY (Approximate travel time- 2 ½ hours)

After breakfast, climb the Sigiriya rock (Lions rock)- early morning climb. When entering the site walk along the Royal gardens which consists of pools, fountains and an unending number of aromatic gardens. As you enter the second level of the rock, witness the colourful paintings that date back to 5th century AD. Another interesting architectural masterpiece here is the Mirror wall which was covered with graffiti between the 7th and 10th century AD. The Audience hall is a part of the royal complex constructed on a rock boulder. The Cobra head cave is named due to the natural shape of the rock itself. Sigiriya is one of the many UNESCO heritage sites in the country. After, advance to Kandy. Kandy was the capital of Sri Lanka during the ancient times of Kings and Queens. Nestling midst low hills and looped by the Mahaweli river, this religious city is one of the most sacred places of worship to Buddhists in the world and was also named a world heritage site by UNESCO. Visit the Temple of the Tooth relic; the crown jewel of the Kandy city is also known as Dalada Maligawa. ‘Maligawa’ translates to palace and the temple is a part of it. It has seen centuries of peaceful reigns and is one of the many historical places in the island. Witness the Kandyan cultural show – A unique show of Sri Lankan traditional dance (fire and harvest dance), which include an entertaining fire-walking act. The artists dance to the beat of the drums, rising and falling to the lively tempo. Overnight stay in Kandy.
DAY 03

KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA (Approximate travel time- 2 ½ - 3 hours)

After breakfast, visit the Royal Botanical gardens in Peradeniya, established in 1821 stretch across 147 acres. These verdant gardens were once used as a royal ground. Being the largest botanical garden in Sri Lanka, its highlights include a fine collection of fruits, orchids, a stately avenue of royal palms, an aptly named cannonball fruit tree and 40-meter-high Burma bamboo. A giant Javan fig tree on the great lawn can also be found here, held stern by its colossal central trunk that leads into an umbrella-like canopy of branches. After, proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya is also known as ‘Little England’ for its picturesque landscapes of beautiful mountains, valleys, waterfalls and tea plantations. En-route- visit the tea factory in Ramboda and learn about the production of Sri Lanka’s globally sought out for tea. Witness the Ramboda falls is a unique and beautiful sight that can be seen at the Pussellawa area of Nuwara Eliya, at the Ramboda pass. The height of this fall is 109 meters. Start sightseeing Nuwara Eliya by visiting the old brick post office, country house like hill club and its interesting interior, the 18-hole golf course, race course, Gregory lake and Victoria park. Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
DAY 04

NUWARA ELIYA / TANGALLE (Approximate travel time- 5 hours)

After breakfast, transfer to Tangalle. Tangalle is a popular beach destination on the south coast of Sri Lanka. The Tangalle market is the best place to mingle and join the rhythm of the community. Tangalle is famous for its beautiful coastline. The colourful habour is also an attraction of Tangalle complemented by the graceful marine turtles in Rekawa. At the hatchery you will learn about the livelihood of these graceful turtles, both young and old as they are cared for until the day, they are ready to head back out into the ocean. Enjoy activities such as kitesurfing, diving and surfing. The Blowhole in Tangalle also known as Hummanaya, translates to a distant "hoo" sound and is the 2nd largest blowhole in the world. Enjoy a couple spa treatment. Overnight stay in Tangalle.
DAY 05 AND DAY 06

TANGALLE / BENTOTA (Approximate travel time- 2 hours 30 mts)

After breakfast, advance to Bentota. Bentota is famed as the prime beach resort town of the south-western and southern coastal belts of Sri Lanka. This town provides the perfect location for holidays by the beach as it is enriched with safe swimming combined with fun water sports and pristine palm-fringed beaches. Optional- enjoy experiencing water sports such as; water skiing, boat rides, sofa rides, and banana boat rides. Visit the Kosgoda turtle hatchery, at the hatchery, you will learn about the livelihood of these graceful turtles, both young and old as they are cared for until the day, they are ready to head back out into the ocean. Enjoy a candlelit dinner by the shore. Overnight stay in Bentota.
DAY 07

BENTOTA / COLOMBO (Approximate travel time- 2 hours)

After breakfast, proceed to Colombo. Colombo is Sri Lanka’s bustling commercial hub. Start your city tour and shopping. A drive through the city will take you to Fort and Pettah – the commercial area of the city and tree-lined Colombo 7 – Cinnamon Gardens. Colombo 3, 4, 5 & 8 are the prime residential areas of the City. The Hindu Temple at Sea Street – lined with goldsmith shops, the Dutch Church at Wolfendhal dating back to 1749, the historic Devatagaha Mosque, Independence Square, BMICH, Gangaramaya Temple and Colombo Museum are but some of the many attractions in Colombo. Sri Lanka is renowned for Ceylon Tea, Ceylon Cinnamon, Blue Sapphires spices, precious and semi-precious gems and jewelry in silver, gold and white gold. The nightlife here is lively at a number of clubs, pubs and dining venues. Overnight stay in Colombo.
DAY 08

COLOMBO / AIRPORT (Approximate travel time- 1 hour)

After breakfast, head out to the airport for a timely departure.
